General Information

ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) is a homogenous material with good chemical resistance and high impact strength. Other advantageous features are its suitability for use at low temperatures (-40⁰C) and its ease of jointing.

Individual Products are in accordance with the appropriate British Standards.

  • Fittings (inch) BS 5392 Part 1
  • Fittings (metric) DIN 8063, KIWA 549, ISO 727
  • Threaded Fittings BS21, DIN 2999, ISO 07
  • Solvent Cement BS 4346 Part 3
  • Pipe BS 5391

 

Wras Approval

The material meets the requirements of the Water Regulations Advisory Scheme for potable water.

 

 

 

Chemical Resistance

The chemical resistance properties of ABS are good for most diluted inorganic acids, organic acids, animal fats and oils and salts. It is not resistant to acetic acid, alcohol, organic solvents, petrol and vegetable oil.

 

Colour

Plimat ABS Products are manufactured in mid grey colour

 

Temperature

ABS is suitable for use over a wide temperature range from
-40⁰C to 70⁰C
